Davie Street passes through some of downtown Vancouver’s most vibrant areas. While several intersections stand out, only the Davie and Bute intersection lies within the Davie Village zone—the others are outside of it.
One of the most iconic intersections on Davie Street is at Davie and Denman, where the street ends at English Bay Beach. This spot is perfect for a scenic walk, especially past the A-maze-ing Laughter statues, a popular photo stop. The area is full of restaurants offering tastes from around the world—grab a Mediterranean donair, enjoy oceanfront dining at Cactus Club, or try some of the best Persian food along Denman Street.
This intersection is at the heart of Davie Village, a lively and inclusive neighborhood known for its colorful crosswalks painted in rainbow stripes. The southern part of Bute Street here is a pedestrian and bike-only zone, often used for events and public art displays. At this major downtown crossing, Davie meets Burrard Street, one of the city’s main arteries. Just steps from here is the False Creek seawall, where you can take a peaceful walk along the water with a view of Burrard Bridge from water level. This intersection is also close to shops, office buildings, and transit connections.
Where Davie meets Granville, you’ll find one of downtown’s major transit hubs. This is where many buses connect to areas like Kits Beach, UBC, South Vancouver, and Granville Island. Buses heading north from here go toward Waterfront Station, while others head east into the heart of East Vancouver. It’s a key access point for exploring the city. The seawall, offering a scenic walk by the water with views of Burrard Bridge from below, is just a few steps from here.
This intersection connects Davie Street with Yaletown and False Creek, placing you just steps away from the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre. From here, it's only a short walk east to the False Creek seawall, perfect for a peaceful stroll by the water. It’s another lively and scenic spot that adds to the charm of Davie Street.
In spring, Davie Street becomes even more beautiful as cherry blossom trees bloom along the sidewalks, especially near key spots. The most notable blooms can be seen around the intersection of Davie and Bute, particularly if you walk one block north along Bute Street. You'll also find beautiful blossoms between Richards Street and Homer Street on Davie. In addition to these areas, several other trees are scattered along Davie Street, adding soft pink color and charm throughout the neighborhood. It’s a lovely place to enjoy a walk and take in the spring atmosphere in downtown Vancouver.
The City of Vancouver is working on a plan to make Davie Village more walkable and welcoming through the Davie Street pedestrian widening project. Based on feedback gathered in 2023 from locals and businesses, this project aims to create more space for people to walk, roll, shop, and dine in comfort. The design includes wider sidewalks, more greenery, and better access for everyone—including cyclists, pedestrians, and people with mobility aids.
By improving the street layout between key blocks, the city hopes to support local businesses, reduce congestion, and enhance the overall experience of one of Vancouver's most colorful and inclusive neighborhoods. Community input is still being collected, encouraging residents and visitors to help shape the future of Davie Village.
